Remote Portraits:
During the pandemic lockdowns, I heard of a technique to run a photoshoot over a video call. The photographer directs the model to adjust their background and lighting, and then takes screenshots on their device.
My model Katrina and I had only communicated by text before, we hadn’t actually ‘met’ on a video call. Doing a remote photoshoot was a really fun way to connect. As we both have CF, a video call is as close as we can safely be, even without the pandemic.
I couldn’t necessarily tell which photos worked and which didn’t until I went through them afterwards. It’s interesting how in a video call, the quality of the image doesn’t necessarily impact how connected we feel, or how immersed we are in that connection.
